OUR STORY
Located in Downtown Kansas City, we specialize in creating upscale taco bars, charcuterie boards, and desserts for weddings and corporate events.
In 2018, my wife and I were shocked by how expensive it would be to feed 180 guests at our wedding. At the time, I was the Executive Chef at a restaurant in Kansas City, and I felt confident we could handle catering it ourselves. With our budget already stretched, we decided to give it a try. ​​​​
Catering your own wedding might not be the best idea for a stress-free day, but it sparked the idea of starting a catering business to offer a better, more affordable solution for others.
Six months later, we offered to cater a friend's wedding who also had a tight budget. The bride's mother asked if we could create a cost-effective dinner for their event. Naturally, a taco bar seemed like the perfect solution, but we wanted to make sure it was elevated beyond the typical catering option. That’s when the idea for Hefter Catering was born.
Our vision was simple: Specialize in taco bars, focus on efficiency, and offer exceptional food at an affordable price. It became clear that this was the right direction for us, and we haven't looked back since.​​​​

OUR FOOD
​
All of our dishes are made from scratch with the freshest ingredients. We also prioritize inclusivity and are mindful of common dietary restrictions. All of our entree options are naturally 100% gluten-free, however some appetizers and desserts in certain packages may contain gluten. We also avoid adding animal products unless they’re part of a protein. This means your gluten-free and vegetarian guests will have plenty of options, so you won’t need to worry about accommodating them separately.
Additionally, we do not cook with any nuts or nut oils, including in our desserts, so your guests with nut allergies are safe as well.

Our HC's Taco Bars concept features our most premium offerings. Think elevated taco bars that are anything but ordinary. We provide real plates, silverware, and staffing—everything you need for an upscale experience. These packages also include cocktail hour/appetizer food and dessert options, all built into the per-person price.

HC's Chicken and Rice:
​
HC's Chicken and Rice is carefully designed to be the perfect solution for anyone struggling to find a great catering option at an affordable price. This package offers a tasty and budget-friendly way to serve your guests. HC's Chicken and Rice provides both a convenient drop-off service and an option with a small staff to assist with setup and cleanup.. ​​
